LEE COUNTY, Fla.- An elderly couple is still in shock after a violent home invasion in a quiet, gated neighborhood.

The two were beaten and the wife was held at gunpoint. This happened in the Royal Tee Golf Club community near Pine Island Road.

“It wasn’t random. It was targeted I’m sure,” said the victim.

WINK News is not identifying the victims. They tell WINK News around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday night, the doorbell rang.

“I didn’t see anybody so I opened the door,” said the victim. “As I got by the first column of the house, I got hit off the head.”

The victim tells WINK News he and his wife were ambushed by four men.

“The two guys with the guns ran by us and went in the house. I looked and they knocked my wife down right by the door here,” said the victim.

The victim even tried to put up a fight. Blood is still splattered all over the front door.

“The one guy I was fighting had a knife and he was slashing and trying to stick me with the knife,” he said.

“They had my wife and put a gun to her head and said if she didn’t stop screaming they were going to shoot her,” said the victim.

The victim tells WINK News the men started ransacking their house and during all of this the couple ran out of the house to their neighbors.

“I told him to call 911 and if you have a gun bring it with you,” said the victim.

That neighbor tells us three men got away in a white SUV and the other man ran off on foot.
