COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Firefighters say a homeowner’s carelessness caused a brush fire that threatened several homes in Golden Gate Estates.
Crews rushed out to the area near Golden Gate Boulevard and Everglades Boulevard Friday afternoon. They managed to get the 2 acre brush fire under control in about an hour.
Officials say one of the homeowners admitted to burning some yard trash two days ago and never made sure it was put out completely.
No nearby homes were damaged.
