LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A jail employee is under arrest, accused of smuggling drugs to an inmate.

Investigators say jail nurse Robin Yanda had a relationship with murder suspect Robert Loveland.

According to officials, Yanda and Loveland had more than 290 phone conversations while he’s been in jail, going back to November 2014.

Deputies say the two discussed their love for each other but also how Yanda could get better at sneaking items into the jail.

Yanda is accused of bringing contraband into the Lee County Jail at least six times.

Investigators say she would hide drugs between two pieces of bread and wrap it in paper towels to make it look like she was giving Loveland a diabetic snack.

Authorities caught on when another inmate tried to get drugs smuggled in the same way. In that case, someone outside the jail found out and alerted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Yanda was a part-time nurse working at the Lee County Jail, through Armor Correctional Health Services.

The sheriff’s office tells WINK News she has been fired.
