Last two days of Christmas Cheer registration in Lee Co.

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties has completed four mornings of registration for its annual Christmas Cheer program and is gearing up for the final two days this weekend.

In 2014, The Salvation Army served 3,683 families and 8,473 children through Christmas Cheer and more than 20,000 individuals through its total Christmas programs.

Those Lee County residents who are in financial need and who have children aged 12 and under should come to register Friday or Saturday morning. Qualifying families will receive gifts for the children and a food box for Christmas dinner in December.

For the first time, The Salvation Army is offering registration at its downtown Edison Avenue campus to better serve the Lee County community.

You can register from 9 a.m.- noon on Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2400 Edison Avenue.

Applicants must have the following items to register:
Adults: Photo ID AND Proof of residency in Lee County (such as lease agreement or utility bill)
Children: Proof of Birth Date for each child (toys are provided for children 12 and under)
Proof of: Income AND Benefits; Expenses

Parents are discouraged from bringing their children to registration.

Christmas Cheer is a community wide effort and is The Salvation Army’s largest outreach event each year. The Christmas Cheer program is funded by donations raised during The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign which begins in mid-November.
