FORT MYERS, Fla.- Lee County deputies are searching for a man who used a cloned credit card to rack up more than $6,000 in fraudulent purchases.

Surveillance cameras from a Publix store captured images of the suspect making a $1,000 purchase with the card linked up to the victim’s account.

The suspect also spent $1,121 at a North Fort Myers CVS store, more than $1,000 at another Publix store, and made additional charges at Toys “R” Us, Office Depot, a movie theater and even a bagel shop.

“While it’s nearly impossible to be immune to credit card fraud, being vigilant, and keeping a watchful eye on credit and bank statements can help prevent excessive fraudulent charges from being made,” said Trish Routte, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers Coordinator.
