CAPE CORAL, Fla. Gov. Rick Scott fired back at lawmakers taking aim at two of his favorite incentive programs during a visit here Monday.

Scott defended Visit Florida and Enterprise Florida, initiatives designed to enhance the state’s tourism and economy, respectively, as he spoke in a roundtable discussion at Marine Concepts, a watercraft engineering firm.

Scott discussed ways to improve job growth and emphasized some of the positive aspects of Florida tourism.

“We’ve gone up by 30 million visitors,” Scott said. “Look at all the revenues in our state. Look at all the jobs in our state. … So you can see we’ve made investments and they’ve turned, they’ve paid off,” Scott said.
