Port Charlotte SWAT standoff ends

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. A standoff situation involving the SWAT team ended Friday morning on the 20000 block of Glendale Avenue, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said.

The SWAT team was on scene after deputies attempted to service a narcotics search warrant at approximately 7:30 a.m., deputies said.

Three people barricaded themselves inside of the home during the standoff, deputies said. There was reason to believe the suspects were armed and dangerous.

After an extended period of time Chemical Agents were deployed into the home, deputies said. The suspects later exited the home.

Elkham Boulevard was blocked off at Meehan Avenue, according to a deputy, but reopened just after 10:30 a.m.

The suspects are facing a variety of charges:

  • Shaquita S. Marion, 26, faces charges of resisting arrest without violence, trafficking in cocaine and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
  • Jarrod M. Cannon, 29, faces charges of resisting arrest without violence, trafficking in cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
  • Darnell R. Horace, 20, faces charges of resisting arrest without violence, trafficking in cocaine and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
