NAPLES, Fla. A peaceful protest is planned for Tuesday’s Collier County school board meeting. The NAACP of Collier County is taking issue with the district’s decision to use Martin Luther King Day as a makeup day for time missed during Hurricane Irma. The organization didn’t say exactly what form the protest would take. The chapter filed a complaint Monday because students will be in class for the Jan. 15 federal holiday. The district lost approximately two weeks of school due to the storm. Veterans Day and Presidents Day will also be used as makeup days.
