TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (The News Service of Florida) A Democratic lawmaker this week proposed designating a stretch of road in Broward County as “President Barack Obama Highway.”

Rep. Patricia Williams, D-Lauderdale Lakes, filed the proposal (HB 265) for consideration during the 2018 legislative session, which starts in January.

Under the bill, Dixie Highway, or State Road 811, would be designated as President Barack Obama Highway between Hillsboro Boulevard and Northeast 13th Street.

Florida already has the Ronald Reagan Turnpike, also known as Florida’s Turnpike, and George Bush Boulevard, which is a stretch of A1A in Delray Beach named after George H.W. Bush.
