An Immokalee man was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday for crimes against a child, according to State Attorney Amira D. Fox.
Manuel Sanchez, 59, was found guilty and charged with lewd or lascivious molestation and lewd or lascivious conduct.
Sanchez was sentenced immediately after the verdict was returned following a one-day trial in Lee County. He was sentenced to life in prison on one charge and an additional 15 years for the other.
Officials say Sanchez molested a child in Cape Coral over the course of two years. The child eventually told someone about the crime and the Cape Coral Police Department began an investigation.
The child testified at trial against her abuser.
