North Fort Myers man charged in fatal 2018 crash

A 28-year-old North Fort Myers man has been arrested and charged in a 2018 fatal crash on I-75.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Monday that Alan D. Earle is charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in the death of Bruce C. Koelber, 39, of Naples.

The crash happened Aug. 14, 2018, on I-75 near Alico Road.

Koelber was driving in the center lane when he was rear-ended by Earle, according to the FHP.

Both cars spun into the median and crashed into the guardrail.

Koebler was taken to Gulf Coast Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Earle was arrested Saturday and remains in the Lee County Jail with a $15,000 bond.
