Florida Highway Patrol says a 22-year-old man from Punta Gorda died in a crash on Sunday after veering off I-75 and colliding with a metal pole.
According to FHP, the driver was heading northbound on I-75 in the outside lane approaching Sumter Boulevard.
His vehicle exited the roadway to the right and entered the grass shoulder before the front of the vehicle collided with a metal pole.
FHP has not released the victim’s name. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
