1 killed, 2 injured in Lee County single-vehicle crash

One man has died and two others were injured following a single-vehicle crash in Lee County early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 22-year-old Hialeah man was driving a sedan with two passengers northbound on Douglas Avenue North approaching 7th Street West around 2:35 a.m. He failed to stop for a stop sign, crossed over 7th Street West, traveled off the roadway and struck a tree.

The car came to final rest in the grass yard on the northwest corner of 7th Street West and Douglass Avenue North.

The driver was pronounced dead on scene. One of the passengers, a 21-year-old Hialeah man, sustained minor injuries, and the other passenger, a 24-year-old Cape Coral man sustained serious injuries. FHP did not release their current conditions.

The crash is under investigation.
