A Florida Highway Patrol trooper from Fort Myers was injured Wednesday morning in a crash on I-75 in Manatee County.

The FHP said a southbound driver lost control of his sedan on the wet roadway and struck the trooper’s patrol car, which was stopped on the side of the road with another vehicle.

The 24-year-old trooper was initially outside his car and got into it just as the crash occurred, the FHP said.

He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

No one was else was injured in the crash, which happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. near mile marker 216 in Bradenton.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
