All appointments for NCH vaccine distribution this week were filled by 12:10 p.m. Thursday, NCH says.

Many people reported issues logging on to the website to book their appointment. “The high influx in traffic to the NCH website at one time caused many in the community to experience service delays or go completely offline,” NCH said in a statement.

NCH will announce more dates as soon as they receive more vaccines.

The Herculean vaccine effort continues and it’s now expanding to our hospitals.

NCH announced that on Thursday people 65 and over will be able to sign up online to get their vaccine. They will begin administering shots on Friday.

Ben Shinkle is one of the many waiting for a COVID-19 vaccine after multiple failed attempts of trying to get an appointment.

“There was a phone number we called,” Shinkle said. “That voicemail was full.”

The Naples resident said he is looking forward to getting the vaccine.

“I can’t wait to get all this craziness behind us,” Shinkle said.

The spots at NCH are limited, but regardless the hospital system said it will continue to offer vaccines to the public when they get another shipment of vaccines.

“We recognize spots may fill up quickly, and we appreciate the community’s patience. Our first priority is regarding the health of our community,” said Ilia Echevarria, an associate chief nursing officer at NCH. “If you are unable to receive an appointment at this time, as soon as we get more vaccines, we will offer our community more opportunities to sign up in the future.”

Shinkle said no matter how many vaccines are distributed, it is still helpful to the community.

“I’m going to get it the first place I can,” Shinkle said.
