Collier County Sheriff’s Office investigators said Bryan picked up an abandoned pistol at the scene and gave it to a man who took off with it.

The shooting happened early June 12 at the Waffle House on Tollhouse Drive. Deputies said a man shot a woman in self-defense after she punched him during an argument.

The shooter wasn’t charged, but another man, Allen Mardy, 22, faces several gun charges. He is accused of approaching the shooter and firing shots into his car.

Mardy faces charges for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm in public, and shooting a missile into an occupied conveyance. He is being held without bond.

The victim is expected to recover from her injuries.
