A bullet is now lodged into the wall of a Southwest Florida Representative’s office. Thankfully this happened over the weekend instead of during the week.

This happened while a neighboring business was conducting a handgun course for women. Instead of using dummy rounds, live rounds were used accidentally.

Because it happened over the weekend, no one was hurt. But, if that had happened during the week, it could’ve been a different story.

You can see the bullet in the wall of Florida Rep. Spencer Roach’s office in North Fort Myers in the picture below. Its final resting place was the conference room across from his office.

The bullet’s entry hole was just three feet from Roach’s desk.

Roach represents House District 79. “Where it lodged in the wall at that conference table someone would be sitting there on a normal day,” he said. “This happened on a weekend, thank God. But if this office had been staffed, that clearly would have been a high probability of hitting someone.”

Representative Roach says Lee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and filed a report. Roach does not want to press charges

WINK News reached out to the organizer of the women’s handgun course for comment on this story but we have not yet heard back.
