Drier air in the forecast following next week’s cold front

Happy hump day, Southwest Florida!

Our high temperatures will be slightly cooler in comparison to Tuesday.

Scattered rain chances will begin around lunchtime and continue into the early overnight hours. Lightning, gusty winds, and isolated flooding will be possible with these showers and thunderstorms.

Our active weather pattern will persist through the weekend.

We have a chance at seeing a cold front by Monday of next week. While this would have minimal impacts on our actual temperature, it would usher in drier air and potentially lower our rain chances. We are still several days out, so this forecast is still subject to change.

There are two named storms and two disturbances in the Atlantic.

Peter and Rose are each tropical depressions. They were tropical storms yesterday and have weakened significantly over the past 24 hours. Both of these systems will likely stay out to sea.

We are additionally tracking a disturbance off the coast of Africa with a high chance of formation this week.

This will be a system to watch carefully as it will be tracking westward across the Atlantic this week. Our model plots hint that it may take a northerly turn in a few days, but it is too early to tell for sure. For now, this will be something to monitor through next week.

The remnants of Odette have a medium (50%) chance of formation in the North Atlantic. This area of disturbed weather is of no concern to Southwest Florida.
