Missing boat, 3 fishermen out of Collier County found safe

The U.S. Coast Guard has located a missing boat that left for a fishing trip and never returned on Tuesday.

The 21-foot vessel was missing out of Collier County, according to the Coast Guard. It was found more than 20 miles west off shore of Marco Island.

The people on the boat texted a family member that they were having trouble after hitting some bad weather.

Three people were on board at the time the boat went missing.

The Coast Guard said the three people on board are all fine as of 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The family member searched for them in another boat but did not find them.

A Coast Guard helicopter from Clearwater was used in the search.

The boat was found anchored and disabled, the Coast Guard said.
