Only isolated rain chances on Wednesday, thanks to Saharan dust

High temperatures will be slightly warmer than what we experienced on Monday and Tuesday. Expect cloud cover to build closer to lunchtime, after a mostly sunny start. Ample humidity will make our high temperatures in the mid-90s feel like they’re in the triple digits during peak heating.

A concentrated plume of Saharan dust is draped over Florida. This will slightly inflame Floridians’ allergy symptoms and drop our air quality. Impacts from this dust will decrease as the weekend approaches, with it completely lifting out of our state by the beginning of next week.

Thankfully, Wednesday’s rain chances will be suppressed by our Saharan air layer. Isolated storms will form in the afternoon and persist into the early stages of Wednesday night. These will likely remain below severe criteria. Boaters will still be battling light to moderate chop within our bays and 1 -to 3-foot wave heights in the Gulf as sustained winds reach 15 miles per hour.

It looks less and less likely that the lone disturbance The Weather Authority is monitoring in the Mid-Atlantic will organize into a named storm. There is now only a low (30%) chance that it will become a named storm by Sunday. The next name on our 2022 storm naming list would be Danielle.
