Immokalee man convicted for trafficking in cocaine

A 37-year-old Immokalee man was found guilty of trafficking cocaine on Tuesday.

The jury returned the guilty for Gabriel Garza verdict following a two-day trial in Collier County.

According to the State Attorney’s Office, on Nov. 5, 2020, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Bureau, including members of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Bureau, served a search warrant on a residence in Immokalee.

Garza was in the home at the time, the state attorney’s office said.

During the search, cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were found inside the home. Authorities also found a sock hidden under the air conditioner unit which contained numerous plastic baggies of cocaine. The cocaine found in the sock had a net weight of approximately 45 grams.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 12.
