Father and daughter arrested, accused of setting a raccoon on fire in Sarasota County

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a father and daughter in connection with a social media video that went viral depicting the killing of an animal.

Alicia Kincheloe, 30, and Roddy Kincheloe, 63 were arrested on charges of aggravated animal cruelty, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

On August 11, Alicia posted a video on Snapchat of a raccoon inside of a dumpster on Sarah Avenue in Sarasota County.

Alicia narrated in the video that the raccoon was mean, according to a Sarasota County report.

In the video, the raccoon isn’t showing any aggressive or assertive movements.

In the next video on Alicia’s Snapchat, her father is hosing down the dumpster, which is smoking and appears to have been set on fire.

In the video, you can hear Alicia say,” we just toasted his ass, who’s hungry.” She then turns her camera towards the dumpsters which showed the charred remains of the raccoon, according to a Sarasota County report.

On August 12, deputies met with Alicia at her home.

According to Sarasota County deputies, Alicia admitted to making the Snapchat videos. Alicia said she was returning from lunch and saw the dumpster smoking. Alicia and her father found a gas can that was filled with water and poured it into the dumpster, but it began to “flare up.”

Alicia told the deputies that her father threw a cigarette into the dumpster before leaving to go to lunch.

Alicia met the deputies at the location and gave them the gas can used to pour water into the dumpster.

A deputy said as he opened the gas can it immediately smelled like gasoline. A burn test of the liquid inside the gas can tested positive for flammable liquid, according to a Sarasota County report.

At one point in the video, you can see Alicia reaching into the dumpster with a pitchfork which was used to pierce the dead raccoon and remove it from the dumpster, according to a Sarasota County report.

On August 31, a detective spoke with a witness of the video and swore she saw it posted on Alicia’s Snapchat. The witness said she called Alicia to talk about the video and Alicia explained to her that, her father stabbed the raccoon with the pitchfork before heading to lunch and when they returned the raccoon was still alive. Alicia’s father told her to grab the gas can from underneath the truck’s seat, according to a Sarasota County report.

According to a Sarasota County report, the witness said Alicia admitted to her that she poured gasoline on the live raccoon and her father set it on fire. The witness said Alicia removed the dead raccoon from the dumpster in an attempt to hide it from law enforcement.
