Two men with a gun were seen leaving a Golden Gate crime scene in a black Kia where one man was left dead following a shooting on Tuesday afternoon.

According to an incident report, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office began receiving calls about a shooting at 16th Place SW at around 4 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a man lying at the doorway of his apartment with a gunshot wound to his forehead. He died on scene, according to the report.

Witnesses reported seeing two men leave in a black Kia Soul. There were numerous shell casings in front of the apartment building, according to authorities.

CCSO said the assailant fired from the passenger seat.

According to the call comments, witnesses said two men with a gun had been over, left and returned and fired six to seven shots, which left bullet holes in the apartment building.

Witnesses at the scene told WINK News the man was not the intended target of the shooting. The victim’s mother was present and distraught.

Authorities searched for the vehicle but could not find it, even using aviation.

The homicide and crime scene units were on the scene with CCSO’s gang unit.

The shooting left neighbors afraid and anxious for answers.

Deputies are not answering their questions. They are not talking about what sparked the shooting.

No one in the neighborhood wanted to go on camera.

A woman who was nearby said she heard the gunfire.

“It sounded like ‘pow pow pow,’ maybe three or four,” the woman said. “A neighbor called the cops and they called the police and then they came here very quickly. We know he was gone because I asked, ‘Did you check the pulse? Did you try?’ She goes, ‘He’s dead.’ I was so shocked; I was so shocked.”
