“We’re just down here looking for a place to celebrate with family,” said John, one of the many people who went to see the lights.

You can go dashing through the Collier Fairgrounds in your sleigh of choice. “We are happy we don’t even have to walk we just drive on through,” said Denise.

While you are at it, you can wear your favorite Christmas pajamas.

“We just bought these at Walmart we thought it would be fun. We’ve got some coffee we’re gonna have some good times”

It is fun for parents, kids, and everyone in between after the pandemic left many without Christmas events.

“Everything was kinda closed down and difficult,” said Bailey.

Some Christmas cheer was much needed this year.

“After the bad and sad time we had over the last couple of weeks, I think everyone is looking forward to it,” said Magda.

“I was worried that we weren’t going to have anything until it was almost Christmas, so it’s really nice,” said Bailey. “It’s been a bad year with Ian and everything else, so I wanted to get started a little early, get a little happier.”

Among the lights at the fairgrounds was an alligator dressed up as Santa that can put a smile on the face of even the biggest grinch.

The lights show goes until January 1. Tickets for the light show can be purchased on the Magic of Lights website.
