Carol Borman, 92, and John Vickers, 90, live in a senior community and are proof there is no age limit on love since they got married.

While it may sound cliche, Vickers and Borman said it was love at first sight.

“I saw her across the dining room, and I thought she’s really pretty lady. I’d like to know her better,” Vickers said.

The couple met at Brookdale, a senior living community in South Fort Myers. Both no longer had a significant other when they met. With all those years of experience, Vickers didn’t waste time popping the question.

“I said, Well, ‘I haven’t heard an answer yet.’ She said, ‘Oh, I guess I will.’ I said, ‘Let’s back this train up. Let’s do this right. Carol? Will you marry me?’ And she said, ‘Yes, I will’, Vickers said.

And so, the two got married on April 2, 2022.

“I never had a church wedding. At this age, I had my first church wedding. And it was so beautiful and so lovely. It was just great,” Borman said.

Vickers just celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday with his wife.

Vickers garnered a fair amount of wisdom in his 90 years. So, what is his advice for finding love?

“You got to seize the moment. It may never happen again. And you have to take it when it comes and cherish it and nourish it so that it will grow into something spectacular,” Vickers said.

A romantic sentiment on Valentine’s Day, a day to celebrate love.
