The Florida Highway Patrol says a traffic stop for speeding led to a man being arrested for drug trafficking and possession charges.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, troopers pulled over Christian Carrasquil, 39, of Hialeah Gardens, for driving 98 miles per hour on I-75 northbound, just south of the Tuckers Grade exit.

According to troopers, Carrasquil was visibly nervous during the stop. They say his license had been suspended 16 times, and he had an active warrant for his arrest.

A drug-sniffing K-9 was used and alerted on the car. During a search, troopers found 40 grams of cocaine inside Carrasquil’s vehicle.

Carrasquil is facing charges of driving with a suspended license, cocaine trafficking, cocaine possession, possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was taken to the Charlotte County Jail, where he is held on an out-of-county warrant.
