A Collier County man will spend the rest of his life in prison for child molestation.

Collier County Sheriff’s Office announced 49-year-old Matthew Zink’s sentence on Monday.

He was originally arrested on June 9, 2021, after the victim disclosed the sexual abuse.

The investigation began after the victim told a family member that Zink had molested them.

That family member then told a Youth Relations deputy at the victim’s elementary school.

Investigators said that Zink made the victim “pinky promise” not to tell anyone after sexually molesting them, and he bought the child toys after the incidents.

On June 21 of this year, a Collier County jury found Zink guilty of lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under 12.

“This was a fantastic and collaborative effort between our Special Response Bureau, our Forensic Services Bureau, and the State Attorney’s Office to ensure a predator can never harm another child again,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said.
