The Weather Authority is tracking rain and storms along with high temperatures for your Friday afternoon and evening plans.

The Weather Authority Meteorologist Zach Maloch said, “Scattered rain and storms are back in the forecast, arriving later on this afternoon and into the evening. This trend of dry mornings into afternoon and evening showers will continue throughout the weekend.”

Friday

Tropical moisture continues to move in across Southwest Florida, and this will lead to another round of heavy rain and storms for the late afternoon and evening.

Scattered storms will be around the area for high school football games on Friday evening, with rain tapering off through the evening.

Temperatures will be quite hot once again, with highs in the lower to mid-90s and “feels like” temperatures ranging from 103 – 108°.

Saturday

Dry and pleasant conditions will be around the area for your Saturday morning plans.

While the morning will be dry, another round of scattered storms will impact the area through the afternoon and evening.

Highs will be in the lower to mid-90s before storms develop.

Sunday

Mostly clear and dry conditions for Sunday morning.

Scattered rain and storms will push through the area for the afternoon and continue through the evening.

Highs will be in the lower 90s with “feels like” temperatures ranging from 101 – 106°.

Tropics Update

The Weather Authority is now watching four areas of interest in the tropics.

The main area to watch is Invest 90-L in the western Gulf of Mexico.

While development is low, rain and storms will continue impacting Texas and Louisiana over the weekend.

This system will not have an impact on us here in Southwest Florida.

Over the next seven days, there is a 10% chance of further development.

Another area The Weather Authority is watching is Invest 99-L off the coast of the Carolinas.

This system could acquire some subtropical characteristics over the next few days as it moves away from the United States.

While development is low, it has the highest potential compared to the other areas the Weather Authority is watching.

Over the next seven days, there is a 30% chance of further development.

A third area the Weather Authority is watching is just west of the coast of Africa. This wave is currently associated with an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

Some slow development of this system is possible over the next few days, but anything more isn’t likely.

Over the next seven days, there is a 10% chance of further development.

The fourth tropical wave the Weather Authority is watching is in the Western Caribbean, producing disorganized showers and storms.

Development is low, but it is still possible as this area moves over the Yucatan Peninsula and into the Southwest Gulf of Mexico early next week.

Over the next seven days, there is a 20% chance of further development.
