After an early morning house fire in Bonita Springs, two people and a parrot are safe.

It happened on Pembrooke Lane, a community just east of the Colony Canoe and Kayak Park.

Firefighters were sent to the scene Tuesday morning.

The two people were inside, and a parrot made it out safely.

Fish tanks inside the house were not removed from the house fire, but thankfully, the animals were unscathed.

Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue and the Estero Fire Department were on the scene to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters investigated the fire, which began due to an electrical malfunction on the left side of the building and then spread to the second floor before eventually reaching the roof.

Water and smoke damage was reported after firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Crews put out the fire and concluded that it was still livable. They were able to close off and isolate the area where the fire started.
