Suspect on the run after Fort Myers home burglary

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Police are searching for a home invasion suspect on the run Thursday.

The Fort Myers Police Department tells WINK News the suspect broke into a home on McGregor Boulevard overnight.

The homeowner says sometime during the evening hours while they slept an unknown suspect entered their residence and took a television. The suspect then left the scene in their four-door Hyundai that was parked in the driveway.

While officers continued to investigate at the residence, Florida Highway Patrol spotted the stolen Hyundai at the Waffle House located at 4050 Boatways Road, off Palm Beach Boulevard.

Troopers say the suspect fled into a wooded area.

“The preliminary investigation suggests the suspect is an acquaintance of the victim. We are aggressively working to identify and apprehend this individual,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Victor Medico.
