FORT MYERS, Fla. – It’s only been open four months, but already a Fort Myers restaurant is serving up success.
This week, 11:Eleven Cafe was ranked the best restaurant in Florida by Food Network star Alton Brown. When you see the menu, you’ll understand why it got his attention.
The cafe is located on San Carlos Boulevard, on the way to Fort Myers Beach right across the street from Love Boat Ice Cream.
“I somehow found it on Facebook, and I read about it and I was like, ‘oh, grown-up grilled cheese!’ I had to come,” said customer Sarah Ehorn.
The cafe creates unique gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. Like the meat loaf grilled cheese or even a spicy pecan and apple grilled cheese.
Just this week, Food Network star Alton Brown posted in a video on his national road tour that 11:Eleven is one of a kind.
“This grilled cheese sandwich was avocado grilled cheese on a sun dried tomato bread. And I am going to say right now, that is the best thing I have had on the road thus far,” said Brown.
“Just taking something simple, like two pieces of bread and what you throw between it and blowing peoples minds with it,” said owner and chef Christa Epp.
“I think I was about 10 when I told my dad and mom that I wanted a grilled cheese shop and board games, that was the key to it,” said Epp.
“That to me is the best reviews I can get. What’s left behind on the table. Empty baskets of food and fun,” said Epp.
