Person killed in North Fort Myers crash

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – One person was killed after a crash involving a car and pedestrian on Pine Island Road and Woodward Avenue.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. State troopers said a 22-year-old man from Miami was driving, when a pedestrian crossed in the crosswalk. The driver did not see the man because it was dark. Troopers said the driver tried to swerve.

Video taken by a WINK News crew showed a white sedan with a smashed windshield.

Troopers have not released the name of the man killed.
