DELAND, Fla. (AP) – A man caught in Georgia after police say he killed his girlfriend in central Florida has been brought back to the Daytona Beach-area.

Records show 31-year-old Jeffrey Crivelli was booked into the Volusia County jail Tuesday. He is charged with second-degree murder.

Authorities say 33-year-old Brandy Johnson was found dead, bleeding from her head, in her DeLand apartment’s closet last week. Investigators say her 4-year-old son was home at the time of the killing.

Police say Crivelli fled to Georgia and called his mother in Vermont to confess killing Johnson. Crivelli’s mother then called 911, ultimately leading police to the Richmond Hill, Georgia, motel where Crivelli was staying.
