LCSO: Burglars break in to Whiskey Creek home

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Residents are on alert after someone broke into a home on Sandpiper Place in the Whiskey Creek community Monday afternoon.

A neighbor says he heard gunshots while inside his home.

“All the sudden we were in the middle of a conversation, we both heard, ‘bang, bang,’ then we thought, ‘I wonder if that was a gun shot.’ Then we just sort of went back to the meeting. After that, we just ignored it,” said resident Bruce Mackechnie.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says no one was injured.
