Naples company makes an offer to sponsor New Year’s Eve fireworks show

NAPLES, Fla.- The City of Naples has a brand new sponsor to help fund a massive New Year’s Eve fireworks show.

Last month, the city set an October deadline to come up with the approximately $30,000 needed to keep the fireworks show alive.

Naples Panorama offered up $25,000, but it’s not a done deal yet. In return, the non-profit company wants to put one of its web cameras on the pier to provide a live feed to its website.

Most council members were on board with the idea and agreed to put it on the agenda for the next meeting, but the city’s vice mayor is weary the camera will violate people’s privacy.

Collier County is not willing to contribute any funds to support the fireworks, so the new offer may be the only way to keep the show going. City leaders will discuss the offer in two weeks.
