CLEWISTON, Fla.- A 46-year-old man who confessed to committing murder is now facing second degree murder charges, said the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.
Rodney Cotton is currently being held in Hendry County Jail without bond.
On Monday, deputies received a report of a possible homicide at a home on the 900 block of North Gratton Road.
Deputies went to the home to check on the resident, Donald Mulligan, but they were unable to make contact with him.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for the home and discovered Mulligan dead inside.
Cotton, who also resided at the home, was identified as a suspect in the homicide. He was already sitting in jail on Sunday facing charges for driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription when authorities say he confessed to the murder.
