BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — A Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy was the pedestrian hit in a traffic crash that took place shortly before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at Garrett Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in Bonita Springs, a sheriff’s office spokesperson told WINK News.

The deputy was taken to the hospital as a precaution, the spokesperson said. Sheriff Mike Scott, in a Facebook post on the sheriff’s office account, said the deputy’s condition was “generally stable” but that he had suffered multiple injuries.

The driver of the white Dodge pickup that hit the deputy was unhurt and wasn’t cited for any infraction.

The crash isn’t blocking the road. No further information was immediately available.
