Friend encourages Naples teen to report months-old rape

GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. — A friend helped convince a teenage girl to tell authorities Friday about a rape that she said took place in July.

The girl, a Naples resident, told Collier County deputies that she was ripped from her bike along Golden Gate Boulevard, dragged into the woods and raped in Max A. Hasse Community Park, 3390 Golden Gate Blvd W. She said embarrassment and fear that her parents would be angry kept her from telling anyone sooner.

The alleged attacker is described as a man about 6-feet-4 with a thin build, dark skin and light blond hair covering his ears. He has brown eyes and his right ear is pierced. He was wearing a white T-shirt, khaki shorts and old sneakers.
