Debate surrounds proposed Fort Myers Beach resort

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. A 10-acre resort may soon be coming to downtown and reaction is mixed on the idea.

Naples-based TPI Hospitality announced Thursday that the application for a proposed downtown resort is awaiting approval. The resort, if approved, would include amenities such as arcades, stores, restaurants and a water park.

Traffic and parking were among existing concerns for some residents who also fear those problems will only worsen with the resort. Others believe the resort is long overdue.

Town council has yet to set a date to vote on the resort.
