FORT MYERS, Fla. he Fort Myers Miracle and the Charlotte Stone Crabs both begin their Single-A seasons Thursday.

Manager Doug Mientkiewicz returns to the helm after coaching the Minnesota Twins’ Double-A team the last two seasons.

Dereck Rodriguez, son of Hall of Fame catcher Ivan “Pudge Rodriguez, will start on the mound for Thursday’s game against the Jupiter Hammerheads.

“Most of the time, we just talk as father and son,” Rodriguez said. “Most of the time, he tells me what to do, like what pitch and what location and stuff like that. But honestly, he’s the best teacher I could have.”

The Miracle will face the Hammerheads at 6:30 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium while the Stone Crabs are slated to play the Bradenton Marauders at 6:35 p.m. at Charlotte Sports Park.
