FORT MYERS, Fla. Fort Myers police descended on the home of a suspect arrested in connection to last weekend’s fatal shooting at a Fort Myers nightclub.

Police were seen searching the backyard of Kahleel Perez’s home at 2624 Central Ave. Thursday night with metal detectors, neighbors said.

The 21-year-old was arrested earlier this week and his facing a second-degree murder charge for his alleged role in the killing of Rogerio Anjos, known to many as DJ Roger Brazil. The homicide was the city’s first of 2017.

Anjos had gone with a friend to Scarlett’s Cabaret on 3650 Fowler St. around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, police said. He got into an argument with three men about a parking spot as they were leaving, according to nightclub management.

One of those three men shot Anjos, who later succumbed to his injuries at Lee Memorial Hospital. The two other suspects, Gerald Petit Homme, 21, and Laman Lashawn Allen, 25, are still at large.

Despite Perez’s quick arrest, many residents such as Nicolas Resto still feel uncertain about their safety.

“[Do I feel] safe? Not really, plus this is only one,” he said. “Now we have to see what’s going to happen after this one, if the police have the tools.”

The police department declined to comment about the investigation.
