Pedestrian killed in Fort Myers hit-and-run

FORT MYERS, Fla. A 55-year-old Fort Myers man died Thursday from injuries he suffered in a hit-and-run crash last week, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

David Tracy was hit by an unknown driver making a left-hand turn from Palm Lane as he was crossing Orange River Boulevard, the FHP said. The crash took place on April 20 around 8:39 p.m. at the intersection of Orange River Boulevard and Palm Lane.

Tracy was dragged by the vehicle for several feet before the driver fled the scene.

He was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to the FHP.

The vehicle that hit him was described as a large gold or silver SUV.
