Photo by WINK News. Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a teen that’s accused of releasing an ‘irritant’ spray during a school function at G. Weaver Hipps Elementary School. The incident lead an elementary school dance to come to a disastrous end on Friday night when Deputies said a girl released pepper spray into the air leaving young children struggling to breath. The 14-year-old is arrested for discharging the irritant in the school cafeteria which sent 10 kids and three adults to the hospital Friday night, according to the LCSO. She faces felony charges. Students and their parents or guardians were attending the dance at the school in Lehigh Acres. Jayden Bonitatis, a third grader at G. Weaver Hipps Elementary School, said she got the worst of it. “I started feeling cough, like whenever I got outside a little, and my throat starting hurting,” Bonitatis said. “I was pretty sure it wasn’t anybody at our school.” Bonitatis’ grandfather is happy with the arrest, too. “She probably stuck out, probably like a sore thumb if she was 14,” Robert Craig said. “It’s good that they found her.” MORE: Community concerned after irritant sprayed at school dance
