On Friday, the Collier Clerk’s Office is holding “Operation Green Light,” a one-day-only driver license reinstatement event that offers individuals the opportunity to pay overdue traffic ticket fines and/or court fees without paying the extra 32% collection fee. Individuals who meet all eligibility requirements will have their suspended driver license reinstated and get the “green light” to get back on the road. Staff from the Tax Collector’s office will be on hand to print new licenses.

The event lasts from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Collier Tax Collector’s Eagle Creek branch office, 6654 Collier Blvd. in Naples (south of U.S. 41, in front of the Walmart Superstore).

Payments must be made in the county where the fee or fine is owed. Individuals experiencing financial hardship and struggling to pay court costs and fines, including traffic citation fines, are encouraged to speak to a clerk’s customer service representative about establishing a reasonable payment plan.

A person is not eligible for driver license reinstatement by the Clerk’s office if his/her license was suspended or revoked because of:

  • Failure to fulfill a court-ordered child support obligation
  • Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
  • Failure to complete a required driver training program, driver improvement course, or alcohol or substance abuse education or evaluation program
  • A traffic-related felony
  • Being a habitual traffic offender as defined in Florida Statute 322.264
