The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels will return to the field in May for the first time in 18 months.

The 2021 season will consist of 120 games, including 60 home games at Hammond Stadium at CenturyLink Sports Complex. The Mussels’ home opener is scheduled for May 11 against the Clearwater Threshers.

After significant restructuring throughout professional baseball, the Mighty Mussels will now compete in the Low-A Southeast region. The new league consists of 10 teams, all of which are previous members of the Florida State League.

This season’s schedule features a six-game series running from Tuesday through Sunday. The entire league will observe an off day each Monday. The change is aimed at reducing both travel and virus risk.

Fort Myers will play 24 games against its closest geographical opponent, the Bradenton Marauders, and 12 games against the remaining eight teams in the league.

The Mighty Mussels will begin the season on the road on May 4 in Bradenton, and conclude the season at home on Sept. 19 against the Tampa Tarpons.

Fort Myers will be home on July 3 and 4 against the St. Lucie Mets for Independence Day weekend.

Season tickets are on sale now, and other ticket packages including single-game tickets will go on sale starting in April. Call 239-768-4210 or follow the Mighty Mussels on social media for more information.

The team formerly known as the Fort Myers Miracle announced their new name in December of 2019, but were never able to play in 2020 because of the pandemic.
