An argument over a parking space at a Naples beach on Sunday took a wrong turn: A woman says a man assaulted her.

The woman who called the police told WINK News a man who was saving a space in the Naples Pier parking lot yanked open her car door and threatened to attack her. She tried to pull into the open spot where he stood before he got aggressive and scared her off.

Some who park in the lot often don’t believe the man had any right to hold the spot in the first place.

“That’s scary on her behalf. I wouldn’t feel like I could defend myself, especially if I have my children,” Sam West said .

“A lot of people sit in here and wait for people to leave,” Sam Cefali said.

Naples Police Department considers the man’s actions to be assault and against the law. Right now, it’s an active investigation, and police remind everyone to respect one another while hunting for beach parking.
