A DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office deputy was fired Sunday after she was arrested on charges stemming from a domestic disturbance in Arcadia.

The Arcadia Police Department responded early Sunday to Nyshonna Richardon’s home and said they determined she was the aggressor in the incident.

She was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and battery.

Information on Richardson’s employment with DCSO has not been released, but Sheriff James Potter said, “What she did for her years of service will be overshadowed by this unfortunate action which cannot be condoned.”

The DCSO said Potter then fired Richardson, 28, after he reviewed the available facts of the case.

Richardson remains in the DeSoto County Jail. A bail amount has not been set.
