Lee Virtual School principal arrested for battery, charges later dropped

Update: The charges against Albert Shilling have since been dropped.


The principal of Lee Virtual School has been arrested and is accused of battery.

Albert Matthew Shilling, of North Fort Myers, was booked and released from Lee County jail on bond on Saturday.

Rob Spicker, a spokesman with the Lee County school district, confirmed the district is aware of the arrest and has opened an investigation.

Shilling, who goes by Al, became principal of Lee Virtual School in 2009.

Details of the arrest are not known at this time.
