A pre-trial hearing was held Thursday for Brett Pleasant, 55, who faces multiple criminal charges including second-degree murder and robbery in the killing of Jo Ann Leasure, a 77-year-old woman found strangled to death at her condo on June 21, 2017.

Pleasant had a litany of prior arrests and had been released from a 25-year prison sentence for armed robbery on May 24, 2016, a little more than a year before the murder.

His attorney asked to have some DNA samples retested, which the prosecution says it already had done, and does not want anything mentioned about Pleasant being a sexual predator, which the prosecution says it will not be bringing up.

The trial is set to start Tuesday at 9 a.m. with jury selection.
