Hot, muggy Tuesday with scattered storms

High temperatures will reach the mid-90s across Southwest Florida. A very muggy feel will persist throughout the day, fueling more triple-digit “feels like” temperatures. Boaters will encounter a light chop within our bays and 1- to 2-foot wave heights.

After a mostly dry start, increasing cloud cover will yield scattered thunderstorms in the evening. A few locations will see isolated rain and storms around lunchtime. This pattern will be very similar to Monday’s. Severe weather is not expected. Our strongest thunderstorms will still feature lightning, gusty winds, and isolated flooding.

The Weather Authority is monitoring two tropical disturbances.

The first is a tropical wave east of the Lesser Antilles, which has a chance to get better organized while moving westward into the Caribbean this week. The National Hurricane Center currently gives it a low chance of becoming a depression, but dont be surprised if those odds increase with time.

A strong tropical wave over western Africa has a low chance to develop as it moves into the Atlantic over the next several days. Its a mixed bag from the models on whether or not it does anything, but its the peak of the hurricane season and we have to watch every tropical wave.

Stay tuned!
